Automate access with Kisi

Updated today

The Kisi integration provides temporary access to specific users and companies for designated locks. Users can unlock doors directly from the Access page in both the member web portal and mobile app.

Kisi is a distinct company not affiliated with us. For any inquiries regarding Kisi's solutions, services, or pricing, please reach out to Kisi directly. We do not have the authority to provide information or support on behalf of Kisi.

Prerequisites

To enable Kisi integration with Spacebring, make sure you meet these requirements:

  1. Have an active Spacebring subscription with an Essential or higher plan.

  2. Have your Kisi account set up with all locks configured and added to access groups created exclusively for Spacebring.

Reusing existing access groups you have previously configured for other applications will result in errors.

3. Disable the Bluetooth requirement for the locks in the Kisi app.

If enabled, users won’t be able to unlock doors using the Access page in the member web portal or mobile app, as Bluetooth unlocking is only supported via the Kisi app itself.

4. Have access to the Kisi owner account.

Connect the Kisi integration

  1. Go to Spacebring > Integrations page by pressing the menu (...) next to the location's name.

  2. Find the Kisi integration page > press Connect.

  3. Fill in the details of your Kisi account. In the "Email" field, add the email address of the owner of your Kisi account.

  4. Manage the visibility of the Access page. Understand visibility settings

If you want nonmembers to open the doors through member web portal and mobile app when they make a booking, choose "Public" in the "Visibility" field.

5. Select the name of the Place where your Kisi locks were added > press Save.

You can connect a separate Kisi account to each location in Spacebring.

Configure the Kisi integration

The integration between Spacebring and Kisi allows granting access based on the following conditions:

  • Subscription

  • Room booking

  • Desk booking

  • Office booking

  • Equipment booking

  • Parking booking

Access for subscriptions

To automate access for subscriptions, open Spacebring and do the following:

  1. Navigate to Billing > Plans.

  2. Create or edit a plan and select the desired Kisi access group in the "Access" section.

  3. Create a subscription manually or let users sign up for plans by themselves.

To grant access to your existing members, edit their subscription and choose the Kisi access group. Adding or editing access takes effect immediately.

Access for resource bookings

To automate access for resource bookings, do the following:

  1. Navigate to Resources > Rooms, Desks, Offices, Parking, or Equipment page.

  2. Add or edit a resource > select the desired Kisi group in the "Access" section and press Save.

Access is granted for all future bookings only if an access group is selected or edited for the resource before the booking starts. If the booking has already begun, updated access will not be granted.

How the Kisi integration works

User synchronization to Kisi

Users who qualify for access—based on either a subscription or a booking—are automatically synced to your Kisi dashboard with the following details:

  • Full name

  • Email

Access based on subscriptions

When a user obtains a subscription—whether by self-sign-up or admin allocation—they are added to a specific access group for as long as their subscription is active.

Users go to the member web portal or mobile app > Locations > Access > tap the desired door button to open it.

Access for subscriptions on Spacebring's coworking space management platform

The subscription remains active from its start date until its end or cancellation date, regardless of the payment status of the member's invoices. To revoke access, schedule a subscription end, or cancel it.

When a subscription is created for a company, all users within that company are synced to Kisi and granted access. If the company’s subscription is canceled or expires, Kisi access for all associated users will be revoked.

Access based on bookings

Users who make a booking are granted access to the designated access group for the entire duration of their booking. Additionally, any invitees to the room booking will also receive access.

Users will have a 30-minute grace period before and after the booking time:

Booking date & time

5/12/2024 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM

5/12/2024 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Users who made a booking and arrived at the space go to the Locations > Access > tap the desired door button to open it.

Disconnect the Kisi integration

To disconnect Kisi, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Spacebring > Integrations page by pressing the menu (...) next to the location's name > Kisi.

  2. Press Disconnect and confirm your choice.

When the integration is disconnected, access will not be granted for future bookings or subscriptions. Any access already granted remains active and must be revoked manually through the Kisi dashboard.

FAQ

Why is the Kisi integration failing to connect in Spacebring?

To connect the Kisi integration to Spacebring successfully, make sure to avoid the following common mistakes:

  • Wrong email, password, or domain name: Double-check the credentials of your Kisi account that you're entering in Spacebring.

  • The email you use doesn't have the owner role in your Kisi account:
Make sure to type the email address of the Kisi account owner. Entering the wrong email will result in an "Unauthorized" error.

  • You have more than 10 active API connections/logins in Kisi, which prevents you from creating a new one.
Contact Kisi and remove some existing connections to bring the total below 10.
