A QR bill is an invoice with a payment part and receipt designed for compliance with local requirements while simplifying the manual payment process.
The embedded QR code contains all necessary payment information — such as the recipient’s account, reference number, and amount—allowing customers to pay invoices faster and safer through online banking or mobile apps.
QR-bill is only available in Switzerland and Liechtenstein for invoices issued in EUR or CHF.
Add QR code to invoices
To add QR code to invoices, follow these steps:
Go to Location settings > Billings page > "General" tab.
Fill in the Legal business name (if you haven't already).
Enter your IBAN / QR-IBAN in the "Account" field.
Enter your QR reference / Creditor Reference.
Once you add this billing information, our system lets us generate and include the QR-bill codes on all subsequent invoices you issue to your customers.
The generated invoice includes all the usual information along with the payment receipt, scannable QR code, payment info required for standardized, fast payment processing.
Spacebring supports QR bill for invoices and proforma invoices as well.
How users pay a QR bill
For customers who prefer to pay manually instead of using being auto-charged, the QR code offers a convenient and faster way to complete the payment. Users can follow these steps:
Open their bank’s mobile app or online banking platform.
Select the option to scan or pay a QR bill.
Use their phone to scan the QR code on the invoice.
Verify that the payment details, such as amount and recipient, are correct.
Confirm the payment. Depending on the bank, users may need to approve the transaction via your banking app.
Users can also complete the payment offline by providing the QR bill and payment details to the teller at their bank branch, or at ATMs of certain banks, for example.
Payment made using the QR code is processed externally, so the invoice status is not automatically marked as paid.
Administrators can manually mark the invoice as "Paid externally" and add a memo to indicate the source of payment for proper record-keeping.
